| Alaska’s
Best Bookstore is Now Hiring!
Must love books! Must love people!
|
- Bookseller :
A bookseller’s main function is to help customers. Therefore
you must love to help people, have excellent manners, and be genuinely
friendly. Booksellers are also expected to shelve books quickly
and efficiently, answer phones, work at the registers, maintain
displays throughout the store, keep current with what is on the
best seller lists and other book news, and express an overall
willingness to learn new duties throughout the store. Booksellers
are the “happy-helpy” faces of Title Wave Books –
the friendly folks you see out and about on the sales floor, at
the registers, and the Information Counter.
- Book Processor : The main function
of a book processor is to get all of the books ready to sell.
Book processors clean our used books, prep the new books, sort
all of the books by category, sticker the books, then take them
out to the sales floor. They are also responsible for the shelving
and maintenance of our Genre Fiction section, located at the back
of the store. Book Processors must also keep current with best
sellers and other book news. Book processors are also expected
to help customers throughout the store, answer phones, and assist
in other behind-the-scenes duties in the Processing Department
that keep Title Wave Books running smoothly.
|
| More Details: You
know us as Alaska’s Best Bookstore as voted by the readers
of the Anchorage Press and the Anchorage Daily News for several
years in a row, but did you know that one of the keys to Title Wave’s
success is that many employees have worked here for 7-13 years?
A successful, locally-owned business for over fifteen
years, Title Wave is the largest bookstore in Alaska. We are constantly
on the lookout for people who, like us, will make Title Wave their
career choice. If you are energetic, friendly, and fast on your
feet, we invite you to join our dynamic team.
We provide an intense, two-week on-the-job training
with myriad possibilities for advancement. In fact, our management
team is 100% home-grown. We offer the best pay in US bookselling
and generous benefits—including affordable health insurance,
paid vacation, retirement, employee discount, flexible schedule,
plus a friendly and rewarding work environment. |
|
The fine print: Remember this is retail
-- which means it is not a sit down job, and weekend availability is a
must! Above average written and communication skills are also required
(and yes, spelling counts.) We offer an above average starting wage for
the book industry. Pay raises are merit & knowledge-based, so hardworking
employees are rewarded quickly and well.
-- Please, no
phone calls --
