Sell or Trade Your Books, DVDs, Music and Audio Book CDs

Title Wave buys and trades for thousands of books and other items every week, and there is always a steady stream of new arrivals hitting our shelves! If you have books, DVDs, music CDs and audio book CDs that you'd like to sell or trade, we'd love to take a look. If we can use your items in our inventory, our experienced buyers are happy to make a generous cash offer - or pay a higher amount in trade credit to spend here in the store.

   What We Take

  • Books in good condition that we currently need in our inventory
  • DVD movies, documentaries, television series, exercise and other "how-to" features (sorry, we do not accept VHS tapes of any kind)
  • Music CDs in their original cases, with their original inserts (sorry, we do not accept LPs or cassettes)
  • Audio book CDs (sorry, we do not accept Books on Tape)

Please sort your items carefully before bringing them in! During busy times, we must turn away customers who bring in containers filled with books in poor condition. (And yes, we can tell by looking!)

Items We Can't Accept
  • Books in poor condition. This includes tears to the pages or covers, moisture damage, stains, animal hair or chewing, excessive dirt or dust, highlighting, underlining, or heavy wear of any kind
  • VHS or cassette tapes
  • Vinyl records
  • Series romances like Harlequin or Silhouette paperbacks
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books
  • Older textbooks
  • Dated nonfiction (almanacs, study guides, travel guides, computer books, etc.)
  • Magazines or periodicals of any kind
  • Encyclopedia sets
  • Broken sets of any kind
  • Any item that we are presently overstocked on (by title or subject category)

Buy Counter Hours

Monday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Please note that items brought in after 5:30 p.m. may be accepted only as a "drop-off ", which means you will receive trade credit only (not cash), and your totals will not be available to spend until the following day.

If you are bringing in books late in the day, it is always a good idea to show up no later than 5:00 p.m. so there's time for us to complete our inspection and evaluation of your items before the buy counter closes for the day at 6:00 p.m.

Size Limit

Because of the extraordinary volume of books and other items we see, and in order to minimize the wait time for all our customers, we have a strict limit of two containers per person or account, per day. A "container" equals one banker-box sized carton, or a medium-sized bag, or one of our gray plastic tubs (the same size as the TSA tubs you see at airport security).

When you bring your items to sell or trade, we will invite you to neatly place your books and other items into one or two of our gray plastic containers. Please sort your items for condition before you bring them in, and please bring no more than two containers-full per visit.

Wait Time

We process customers' items in the order they come in. Right after the Buy Counter opens (10:00 a.m. Monday-Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday) there is hardly any wait. As the day progresses, the wait time usually runs 30 to 60 minutes as we quickly sort and evaluate all the goodies that folks bring for our buyers to look at. During busy times (Saturdays, school holidays, and state and federal holidays) the wait time often runs over an hour.
If you're in a hurry, and don't have time to browse in the store while we go through your items, you have the option of leaving your items with us as a "drop-off". This means we will evaluate your items when we can (typically within 24 to 48 hours) and post your credit totals to your account. All items we are not able to use will be donated or discarded - we can't hold them for you to pick up later.

If you prefer to receive cash, we ask that you either wait in the store, or return to check your totals before the Buy Counter closes at 6:00 p.m. If you would like to take back the items we were not able to use, you must return by 6:00 p.m. on the day you brought in your items.

Cash or Trade Credit

The amount we can offer in either cash or trade credit is based on a variety of factors. These include our stock level and sales history for other copies of the same item, the condition and age of your item, and on how often we are offered copies of the same item. We always pay a fair price based on our estimate of the Title Wave resale price for your items.

We are delighted to make a cash offer for the items we need, or pay a higher amount in credit good toward other items in the store. If you prefer the trade credit, you can spend it anytime over the next two years. After two years, unused trade credit expires.

Large Collections

We are always in the market for larger collections of books, DVDs and CDs. These include estate collections, private libraries, and retailer close-outs. Our professional buyers will make an appointment to view these items at your location, and we can pack and transport the items for you. If you have a large quantity of books or other items that may be of interest to Title Wave, please call or stop by and speak with one of our buyers.
